Why did the raw vegan diet cure my grandmother's diabetes and skin cancer?

She had diabetes 7 yrs ago and saw a holistic doctor who put her on a diet and it cured both her medical problems. She's still on the raw vegan diet and thriving at 91... she looks better than ever and is energetic. I want to try it out for myself, not that I'm sick or anything. But why is that diet so healthy? Why did the raw vegan diet cure my grandmother's diabetes and skin cancer?
Diabetes isn't curable or reversible.

Type 2 diabetes - which your grandmother presumably had as it came on later in life - is controlled by diet and lifestyle - diet and lifestyle changes are the first thing any conventional doctor will recommend. Drugs are only used for those few who can't control their diabetes this way - or more likely won't keep up the dietary changes recommended.

Your grandmother still has diabetes; she will always have it. But she's keeping it under good control, ensuring her blood glucose levels are kept steady. The same is true of me; my diabetes scarcely impinges on my life, I'm scarcely aware of it - because I control it by diet. If I didn't have regular check-ups to remind me, I'd probably forget I had it.

As for your grandmother's skin cancer - this cannot be reversed by diet. My guess is that she had some conventional treatment as well as changing her diet; it often happens that people who try complementary therapies alongside their cancer treatments give credit to the comlementary therapy rather than the proven treatment when their condition is successfully treated.

I'm glad your grandmother is in such good health; long may it continue. Why did the raw vegan diet cure my grandmother's diabetes and skin cancer?

Answer: She didn't, and you're clearly lying to perpetuate the dangerous myths and lies of veganism.

"It's the best diet. You never feel blah, or lethargic on it. YOur body LOVES this food and will heal itself. Eating cooked food is really bad for your body the whole time."

Sounds more like you're trying to convince yourself, which is fitting, as you're probably the only one buying your BS.

Why did the raw vegan diet cure my grandmother's diabetes and skin cancer?
She did the opposite of what was contributing to her diabetes and/or making it worse.

edit: Jahal, eating lots of sugars or things that get converted to sugar does not cause diabetes.

exsft is right, it did not cure her it just eliminated the symptoms. The diet is essentially is what's regulating her blood sugar. She's basically doing with her diet what her pancreas could no longer do.
No it did not cure her cancer or diabetes. It stopped the symptoms of diabetes and the cancer is in remission or reacting to a previous treatment which can take time.. What she has is a managed well balanced diet which you can have even if you are not a raw vegan.

diabetes is a medical condition that has not cure. A healthy diet, vegan, vegetarian or omnivore can minimize symptoms but not cure the disease itself.

My granny is also 91 and she eats steak once week (other meats everyday) and takes daily walks around the neighbored without assistance. She also drinks alcohol often ahving wine andbeer with her meals. Why is her meat and alcohol diet so healthy? Why did the raw vegan diet cure my grandmother's diabetes and skin cancer?
Why do you even ask?

It's pure nutrition. The optimum nutrients in a food- no cooking or heating.

The food is as prime and full of vitamins and water as it can be. Do you know how much your body loves this kind of food?

Do you ever feel sleepy and sluggish after a heavy meal?

That is such hard work for your body- to digest all that cooked food- all the cell walls and water-holding structrue of the food is broken up, and you get indigestible sludge. It sits around in your body for ages while the fibre bloats out with gastric juice, and the gases inside the food leak out and fill your intestines.

When food is raw, the structure of the food stays solid- cell walls aren't broken and sloppy, and there's little gas released- all the original properties of the food are still inside the food as it goes through your body, and you don't have to work so hard to digest and extract the nutrients, because they're not leaked out anywhere.

All the food is pure as nature intended, your body is as nature intended too, the water inside the food HELPS the food to digest.

It's the best diet. You never feel blah, or lethargic on it. YOur body LOVES this food and will heal itself. Eating cooked food is really bad for your body the whole time.
Probably because she wasn't eating a lot of starches and sugars, which are bad for diabetics.

Starch is converted to sugar in the body, so even if you eat starchy food- fries even if you don't eat candy, for instance, it would still be like scarfing down sugar, esp bad if you were diabetic.

The raw foods and vegetables are really healthy if your Doc knows how to balance proteins,

vitamins, minerals, etc. It is not enough to just not eat meat. Your grandmother clearly has a knowledgeable doctor and a great health regimen.
You'd be surprised what living a reverse lifestyle can do. I'm not into the show at all but have watched it once or twice with my dad, but the heavy people from the show The Biggest Loser are faced with high blood pressure (to the point of having a stroke or heart attack), cholesterol, type two diabetes and a number of other health problems and within weeks of trading the refined sugars, starches and flours with good quality carbohydrates, lean meats, veggies and exercise; the doctors are able to take a number of people off of their insulin shots, pharmaceutical medications, etc.

I wouldn't, however recommend a raw vegan diet for an extended period of time without the help of a dietitian to guide you through what supplements to take so your body doesn't become deficient in iron, protein and that can become dangerous.

For your grandma it sounds like this diet was a godsend and I'm thankful she's doing better. My grandma is doing the exact opposite and though she isn't a heavy set woman, would pick a jelly do nut or cream filled pastry over a Caesar salad, any day of the week. I worry about her health but she's 80 years old so I guess my family should just let her be happy.

For you: You'd be surprised how much better you feel when you eliminate gluten from your diet. Gluten is in any and all bread products. I happen to be quite intolerant to it so I pretty much cut it out of my life (other than a slice of birthday cake twice a year and paying for it later). You lose weight and it makes you feel amazing! fill the void that bread used to fill with fresh fruits and vegetables, brown rice, Greek yogurt, lean meats and fish and water and you will seriously within a month see a difference in your complexion, hair, nails, mood and energy. Its definitely worth it :)

I hope this helps, peace
All I know is that there is scientific evidence that show animal proteins contribute to the growth of cancer cells. I imagine that cutting out all of these particular proteins and following up with chemo would put the cancer in remission.

Glad to hear your grandma's healthy.
Because the cooked and degenerated food was what gave her, her problems in the first place.
Raw food is how life meant us to eat it like all other animals. We substitute our health for out of line tastes.
The diet didn't do it God did it but the diet didn't hurt the process. Praise God, and God bless your grandmother.
probably because her previous "normal american diet" was so bad for her.
