Is vegan a good diet for a ballerina?

I have a friend who is a ballet dancer who is going vegan. She has always been into healthy/nutritional food and she loves natural and organic foods. Three years ago she started a macrobiotic diet where she shunned most meat except fish. The next year she converted to lacto-ovo vegetarianism. Now she鈥檚 been vegan for six months and she鈥檚 saying that she plans on becoming a raw vegan in two years. But I have to wonder is this diet really healthy for a dancer? Is she missing an essential nutrients as a vegan? Is vegan a good diet for a ballerina?
Only if they can find and injest sources of protein. In order to be a good dancer, you need good muscle tone. muscles need protein to grow and maintain. If you don't eat protein, you body will start breaking down your muscle tissue for it.Is vegan a good diet for a ballerina?
Vegan diets are POOR DIETS... I just WISH all these vegans who think they know so much about nutrition could visit third world countries and go into the children's hospitals to see the HUNDREDS of KWASHIKOR VICTIMS.. (a disease where the sufferers can not metabolize PROTEIN) and they would SEE the effects of a lifetime of NOT EATING COMPLETE PROTEINS.

As for ballet dancers... they.. AND ALL DANCERS.. have the worst diets in the world... I have spent a working lifetime being around dancers and the they are almost ALL malnourished.. and Ballet dancers are the worst of the lot because of their constant fear of gaining weight.
