Any tips for getting started on Vegan diet and helpful advice?

I would like to know about the basic starting items I would need if on a budget and if anyone knows a good book that tells everything I need to know.Any tips for getting started on Vegan diet and helpful advice?
Lots of veggies, just buy whatever's in season and cheapest, and don't be afraid to try vegetables you aren't familiar with. Also, buy dried beans instead of canned. They are less expensive, you can buy in bulk and they taste better. It takes time to soak them and cook them, so I usually bake a big huge batch about once a week and then store them in the freezer. For most recipes, I use all types of beans interchangeably except for recipes calling for black eyed peas, or chickpeas. This way, I can buy the cheapest kinds. You can download tryveg.com's free PDF vegan starter kit, but just a warning, they're a little heavy on the highlighting animal cruelty and why you shouldn't eat meat. My personal favorite cookbook is Veganomicon: They have tons of info on the basic vegan pantry, they use only whole ingredients, have lots of tips, and the majority of their recipes are such that you can substitute different ingredients easily without changing the taste too much. I have only encountered one recipe that I didn't like, and it's basically my only vegan cookbook.Any tips for getting started on Vegan diet and helpful advice?
Whatever you do steer clear of the pre-made items. They fatten up the bill really quick. I've been getting organic long grain rice in bulk. Then either go to a local farmers market or go to a natural food shop to stock up on veggies.Any tips for getting started on Vegan diet and helpful advice?
I can recommend the Vegetarian %26amp; Vegan Society website.

Very informative.
