1) Potatoes or yams. Salad or vegetables. Nuts or seeds.

2) Pea Soup, salad or vegetables, Nuts or seeds.

3) Can you eat corn? Yes, I know, it's considered a grain, but it also is eaten raw as a vegetable. Corn tortillas and beans (black beans are the healthiest), and squash and salad or vegetables and nuts or seeds. This is what the central Americans have traditionally eaten since time immemorial, and the healthiest still eat. It's an excellent diet. The Tarahumara Indians in Mexico who eat this have events where they often run 100 miles at a time for fun. Sometimes they run over 435 miles in one session over 2 days. That would be hard to do without grains, man is a carbohydrate digesting machine.

4) Coconuts with yams and ginger and lemon grass and lime, and you got it, vegetables nuts and seeds. Serve it in a coconut shell.

5) Occasionally, a fruit salad. Fruit for snacks.

6) another snack, or extra protein to accompany a meal: Glass of soymilk or hemp milk err, I mean a crock of. I like to mix them together.

Some things to consider: I'll bet people have eaten some grains all along. A grain is just a seed, like nuts or seeds or peas or beans, except it's the seed of a grass. When food is scarce, after a long cold winter, some of the first things to grow and to grow abundantly, are grasses.

Complex carbohydrates, such as grains are good for human nutrition, if they're whole grains, and organic, not grown in poison, not genetically modified. In fact the most (historically) common diseases and birth defects are caused by vitamin deficiencies as a result of denaturing grains by removing the bran and germ. Therefore for nearly 100 years, flour bread and pasta have been "fortified"or "enriched" with nutrients to make up for food processing. Unfortunately these nutrients are generally synthetic, and there are problems associated with eating them long term, that are just coming to light, such as "folate" a synthetic form of Folic Acid or Vitamin B9, being a risk factor for our most common cancer, colon cancer. Why not just return to eating whole, organic foods? Whole organic grains are some of the richest sources of nutrients necessary to health for humans.

Mentioning the diet of the Tarahumara Indians in Mexico reminded me, that marathon runners swear by a pasta meal the night before the race for energy and endurance.

Fish may have been not that bad to eat maybe 80 years ago, but now there's too much toxic waste in them, same with eggs. If that isn't enough to deter you, maybe this is: Salmon is an endangered species.

You're better off eating some grain than fish, IMO, just be sure it's organic and not denatured.
