I have been looking into the raw vegan diet not only to lose weight but because I love the idea of it. I want to be sure to do it right and I don't know if I can cut out everything suddenly so I plan on making a transition. What are a few things I should keep in mind regarding my diet? Any tips are appreciated.I am considering a raw vegan diet... any tips?
I find that a raw food diet is cleansing. This also means that at first it may cleanse your intestines. Be prepared for that.
One thing you need to keep in mind is balance. You can't eat only raw veggies or only smoothies for very long. You should make sure you eat dark greens, veggies, fruits, nuts and try new recipes so you don't get tired of it. I also recommend small portions of everything, especially at first so your digestive system can adjust especially to the raw vegetables, like broccoli.
I bought a Ron-co dehydrator at the thrift store, so I can make my own seed breads and crackers. As for books, I really liked the Matt Amsden cookbook.I am considering a raw vegan diet... any tips?
I dabble in raw veganism off and on. I definitely feel my best when I am raw, that's for sure. I suggest reading any raw food books you can get your hands on. Libraries tend to have a surprising number of them on hand.
I also suggest finding a raw message board online. Those are a BIG help when you need support or ideas. Alissa Cohen's is the worst i've found. They have some really strange views and the mods and Alissa herself don't seem to support raw foodists, but instead just push the items Alissa sells. They have really strange moderation policies (no talking about other websites where you can buy raw items, only buy from alissa, etc.)
RawFreedomCommunity is an awesome one, probably the best I've found. They're open, you can discuss pretty much anything raw related. They seem to really care about getting raw food knowledge out there.I am considering a raw vegan diet... any tips?
