vegetarian hoping to to become vegan. i'm trying to lose weight. if there's anything I should most definitely add to my shopping please list them. What are the benefits on switching to a vegan diet?
Being vegan basically guarantees good health since it's really hard to gain weight after going vegan. You can gain weight going vegetarian because you can eat all carbs (milk, cheese, eggs, ect.). But vegans eat mainly vegetables and beans so it's really hard to gain weight. You'll most likely lose weight if you do it the right way.
I definitely recommend Silk soy milk in vanilla. Plain isn't the greatest in my opinion. Chocolate is pretty good too. But I use vanilla for cereal and other basic needs.
I also recommend Boca vegan burger patties. They remind me of steak actually. You can have them with a hamburger bun, ketchup, and other vegan toppings (no cheese), or eat it as a steak (no bun).
It's really not that hard to find vegan foods actually. Just check some ingredients. If you look at the bottom of the ingredients list it will be in bold saying "contains milk, eggs" or something like that if it isn't vegan. I also recommend avoiding rennet (lining of a calf's stomach) and lard (animal bones). Some also avoid casein.
I really recommend checking out this site, it has a bunch of vegan foods.

I think it is healthier all around. You don't get as many bad fats, you get a lot of fruits and vegetables. Not to mention that animal products tend to contain by products and such that are not good for the health. If you are trying to lose weight, being vegan would probably help because like I said you eat a lot more fruits and veggies (at least most of us do)What are the benefits on switching to a vegan diet?
First of all, being vegan doesn't make you healthy. Watching what you eat makes you healthy.
There really are no benefits to a vegan diet, besides the label. What are the benefits on switching to a vegan diet?
healthier skin, better hair, pinker nails, and just all around better.
you will lose more weight and you might find that you are going to the bathroom more often vegan diets are really healthy but if you weren't raised that way i would recommend at least eating meat once a week you need to get your protein from somewhere.
