I lost about 20 pounds right off the bat when I went vegan and I wasn't even that big to begin with. Veganism is really the best way to go, I think. I lost the 20 pounds in about 6 months...I know that seems like a long time but I know it will stay off at least. I eat a lot of tofu to get protein and a lot of vegetables. It works.I want to lose weight on a vegan diet....your stories please?
You can lose weight like crazy on the McDougall diet if you stick to it. It is discussed here: http://www.vegfamily.com/health/vegan-we鈥?/a> The woman in the article claims to have lost 30 lbs very quickly.

I, however, gained 7 lbs after going vegan, due to an abundance of vegan junk food in Berkeley. Also, some varieties of Oreo are vegan, there is vegan ice cream, vegan cake, a lot of candy and chips are vegan...I could go on but you get the picture.I want to lose weight on a vegan diet....your stories please?

I didn't lose much, maybe five pounds. However, I have a very small frame to begin with. I was only 110 when I went vegan.

Going vegan doesn't guarantee weight loss. If you eat the right foods, it DOES guarantee that you'll be healthier, feel better, and have more energy overall. You will probably lose weight if you are overweight, though.

I don't eat any refined sugars, and I try my best to steer clear of overly processed foods (I'm still living at home, so I do eat some... but I am very careful about what's in them), saturated fats and I rarely eat cookies or cake (when I do, they're obviously vegan, but organic and free of refined sugars as well). Fruit is a much better dessert, in my opinion. (: It just tastes better.
I suggest a diet rich in fruits, veggies, a little cheese and eggs, fish and chicken. Just cutting out red meat will help you lose weight. It also boosts your metabolism if you have 5-6 small meals a day rather than 3 large meals. Vegan diets are a pain in the a r s e, to be honest.
