And I mean height wise.
And if you are Vegan how tall are you and when did you switch, or were you vegan since birth.Does a Vegan Diet Help or inhibit the growth process?
Sorry, but you need protein to build muscle and bone. The minuscule amount of protein in a vegan diet is NOT enough for a growing child. Vegans and hardcore vegetarians have to take many multi-vitamins to stay healthy or they actually become malnourished. A growing body, ESPECIALLY needs a number of minerals and vitamins in large amounts besides what is in a vegan diet. Milk (for ex) doesnt just provide protein, but calcium, fats, lactose, and other stuff. Also, biologically speaking we humans are omnivores; that is we NEED to eat both grains/vegis/fruits AND meats, not just one or the other.
My mom has worked in the medical field for 40 yrs now and every year there is at least one stupid parent who comes through with a baby or young child that is seriously malnourished, underweight, or ill b/c they tried to put them on a vegan or strict vegetarian diet. Being malnourished at any point in your childhood can cause lifelong problems, height is one of them.
We used to live in an ultra hippy area and I can assure you that the vegan/vegi kids were usually bone-skinny, had stringy lifeless hair, sallow pasty skin, bad breath and BO (certain vegis %26amp; stuff in large amounts cause gas, body odor and bad breath).Does a Vegan Diet Help or inhibit the growth process?
No way! There is no conclusive or concrete scientific evidence to support that veganism stuns growth. I have been vegan since the start of this year and vegetarian since birth. I am 165cm tall and I have a vegan friend who is about 10cm taller than me (if not more). He has been vegan since grade 4 or 5. It is extremely easy to get all of the nutrients, vitamins etc. that you need from a vegan diet. Personally I have actually found it easier.
I would not recommend vegan-ism for young children since they need lots of protein and are already picky about what they eat. But I do think that a vegan diet is very healthy for people who are older if you are able to find substitutes for protein. I am a vegetarian now and plan to become a vegan and I am healthier than I was when I ate meat. However, I do not believe that a vegan diet inhibits the growth process in any way.Does a Vegan Diet Help or inhibit the growth process?
first of all cut out of your meals and snacks: junk foods, potatoes, all foods made with white flour and everything made with white flour and sugar.
wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia has information
on veganism at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veganism
I think you can still get everything you need, plenty of protein, calcium and vitamins, etc. Being a vegan just really limits the foods you can eat. I respect it but I couldnt do it. I like meat too much. I have cut back a lot since I grew up though.Does a Vegan Diet Help or inhibit the growth process?
Whether you are a veg or vegan or non-veg,it does not have any affect on growth, provided you take proper nutritious food available in your category.I am not a vegan.
