eats something like meat, or whatever, accidentally and learns about it afterwards. What do they do? I don't eat much meat, I am really into veggies and fruits, but on occasion I do eat something that once had a face (Heard that said once, should make everyone want to be a vegetarian!) So I'm just curious. What is someone on a strict vegetarian or vegan diet?
It can be really upsetting, but there's not really anything you can do. I had a really BAD experience at a restaurant in the States over the holidays. I ordered the tofu lettuce wraps...and got the chicken. The thing is when it came out, the chicken was all crumbled, so I thought it was tofu. It was covered in sauce, and I haven't tasted chicken in 10 years (plus it was low quality chicken), and had a big bite. My omni bf stopped me, and I still didn't believe him! Cause we'd ordered our whole meal veg, you know? And I bit into a chicken crumble and it looked like.. I don't know, but not chicken! My bf flagged down the waiter, and he had made a mistake..thought I ordered chicken. I went to the bathroom and got sick, cause I was really upset and didn't want the chicken in me anymore for emotional and physical reasons. Don't get me wrong--I was nice to the waiter about it. He obviously felt bad about it, and did what he could to remedy the situation.
In the end, we got the tofu lettuce wraps and finished our meal. It was really strange. I know I've accidentally eaten dairy and egg, and maybe even chicken broth, and it hasn't upset me to the degree that this did, just made me a bit sick, and perhaps disgusted. I wouldn't have thought I'd react that way, but I almost cried. What is someone on a strict vegetarian or vegan diet?
It's not a big deal, it is your body and your choice to put what you want in it. If you ate some meat unintentionally, that doesn't mean that you aren't a vegetarian anymore. You didn't mean to eat it after all.
No meat products, or products that are made from or from byproducts of meat, like butter, ice cream, etc, defines a vegan diet. What is someone on a strict vegetarian or vegan diet?
There's really nothing you can do...just try to avoid it in the future. (Unless you were lied to*, in which case I would personally call the BBB or any other relevant organizations to investigate the company or restaurant.) Emotional responses can vary, anything from shrugging it off as a lesson learned to being deeply upset. My own reaction is usually to be disgusted for a while, and a little disappointed in myself for not being more careful.
*Lied to by the owner, or the ingredients listed were wrong, etc., something higher up than a waiter, since they could easily make an honest mistake.
It would most likely make me ill. I would probably react by first throwing up a lot, then getting really pissed at whomever poisoned me!
My digestive system cannot cope with dead animals after 17 years as a vegetarian (the past 13 as a vegan)What is someone on a strict vegetarian or vegan diet?
I personally do not want to live in a box, nor make myself miserable. I am a "RAW Veggie" If I eat a meat, eggs, etc by accident or just because I want too I don't freak out. Life is suppose to be enjoyed.
