When is it okay to start a vegan diet?

Ive been thinking about it for a long time, and I have officially decided to become a vegan.I know that if I were to just start a vegan diet,I would get sick and lose a lot of weight,so I went vegetarian first.

And I've only been on a vegetarian diet for about two weeks now.

I was just wondering when would be a good time to start a vegan diet.

without getting sick. When is it okay to start a vegan diet?
Well I would very gradually give up animal products. You could maybe wait a few months of being vegetarian to gradually give up milk, then cheese, then eggs, or whatever plan you like best. Gradually usually equals more successfully.

You DON'T have to wait until you're at a specific point in your life. The American Dietetic Association states that a well-balanced vegan diet is appropriate for all stages of life, including infancy and pregnancy. When is it okay to start a vegan diet?
the first answer is wrong. i was a veg since i was born and a vegan since four. im 14 now and im 5'11. and my mom is only 5'4 and my dad is 5'7 so ya...

You can start at any time, but i would do it gradually. also, when you do make the change make sure to eat lots of tofu products and beans, and buy rice Milk that is enriched with calcium. If you make sure to eat the right foods once you are vegan, you will not get sick.
you won't get sick. there are no side effects to going vegan.

all your doing is cutting out dairy and eggs.. no harm in that.

you don't have to gradually go vegetarian or vegan.

WHY would you get sick? When is it okay to start a vegan diet?
as long as you get the nutrients that you need you should be able to start any time.
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why adopting a vegan diet would make you sick or make you lose weight. It is perfectly possible to eat enough calories as a vegan to maintain your weight and to eat enough nutrients as a vegan to keep from getting sick. Most people do spend some time as a vegetarian prior to going vegan, but many do not and it's certainly not a requirement. Read up on vegan nutrition ("Becoming Vegan" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina is an excellent resource) and take the leap whenever you feel prepared to do so.
You should only start on a vegan diet after you are sure your body has finished developing. Vegan diets are somewhat "lacking" in calcium and proteins among other things. If you want to be really uber-safe, start at 18. You will need several supplements to replace nutrients you would otherwise get from animal products, so do some research as to what you will need to replace. If you are athletic you can use whey to replace the proteins you would otherwise get from meat.

I think it's great that humanity has come far enough for some people to be able to survive without eating animals and I salute you for your choice.
