Well, first figure out your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate): http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calcul鈥?/a> This will tell you how many calories you need if you do absolutely nothing. Increase your activity and you'll need to increase your calories to maintain weight. To lose weight, you need to decrease your calories (but keep it above 1400 a day to prevent your body from going into starvation mode).

Whether you eat a Vegan diet or a diet that includes meat, weight-loss and maintaining weight is all about calories in versus calories out.
The vegan diet actually isn't that good for losing weight, as your metabolism slows because your body is wondering what happened to all the nutrients and such that you used to get from animal products. It's just kind of a myth that vegan/vegetarian organizations push to convince people to get into that lifestyle, which they support for other reasons.

I suggest getting back on an animal product diet and watching calories. Why am I gaining weight on a vegan diet? how can i lose weight?
If you are having too much sweets in your diet, then you are likely to gain weight.

Make an itemized list of your existing diet plan. See the areas that you can improve on.

Start with morning walks, light exercises, jogging and then gradually shift to power- walking, aerobics. The exercises should be moderately vigorous to be most effective but not exhausting.

Do not sleep in the afternoons. Do not sleep for more than 10 hours.

Vegan diets tend to be heavy on starches and need to have fatty things like nuts to get the necessary protein and iron. Vegan diets aren't particularly good for losing weight--a lot of candies %26amp; junk foods are vegan.

Talk to a doctor or nutritionist about how to keep a vegan diet and lose weight, 'cos that's a balancing act; if you just cut way back on starches, you could be cutting out essential nutrients.
It might just be a transition thing, especially if you went straight from eating meat to being a vegan. Your body might be freaking out and holding on to calories more and you might also be eating more to deal with cravings or withdrawals. Start writing down everything you eat and the amount of calories in it.
A lot of people when they first go vegetarian/vegan make the mistake of eating too much bread and pasta. That will make you gain weight really quick. Cut back on bread and pasta and eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, rice, beans, quinoa, etc. That will help.

edit: and the guy who mentioned alkaline/acid balance is 100% correct. an alkaline diet will help you lose weight.
Losing/gaining wieght has little to do with what you eat. It's much more about how it's prepared and in what quantities do you eat it.
you're probably not eating what you're craving so you're overeating.
just make sure your 80%alkaline and 20% acidic in foods and drinks
WTf? thats odd!
