Is it feasible to maintain a vegan diet while in Peace Corps?

I'm considering Peace Corps upon graduation and was wondering if it's possible to maintain a vegan diet. I think that in the more urban assignments it would be possible, but what about the other assignments? Is it feasible to maintain a vegan diet while in Peace Corps?
It depends entirely on your placement. There are numerous online discussion groups for current and former PeaceCorps, including on YahooGroups - the question about being a vegan is an FAQ and has been answered many times on those other sites.

I have worked abroad for a few years, and based on my experience, I can tell you that maintaining a vegan diet limits not only where you can go, but what kind of work you can do and your interactions with others. Many of the people you encounter in the developing world rely on dairy and meat not only as fundamental parts of their diet in order to survive, but as income for their families. In addition, sharing a meal with local people is one of the most fundamentally-important parts of establishing trust. Is it feasible to maintain a vegan diet while in Peace Corps?
What Jayne says. It depends on where you're placed. In some countries, it's harder than others and in any country you'd want to grasp the vocabulary to explain what kind of diet you eat.

As far as I know, we had several vegetarians in Morocco, but I am unaware of any strict vegans.
