Vegan Diet????????????

I need to lose ALOT of weight. I am think of doing a Vegan diet. I will eat meat on Thursdays to have enough protein because my school has weekly runs.

Do you think this is a good diet plan? I cannot eat 6 small meals a day because I have school!Vegan Diet????????????
It's very hard to maintain weight on a vegetarian diet unless it's extremely low calories. It's almost impossible to lose weight even with low calories. Excess fat accumulation is a symptom of a hormonal problem caused by excess carbs triggering excess insulin. The blood stream needs to be free of insulin before fat will be released.

I'm not trying to convert anyone to being a meat eater only health conscious. Starches, sugar, fruit do not promote weight loss, they do promote weight gain. Carbohydrates trigger insulin, the fat storage hormone. Protein triggers the fat burning hormone, glucagon. A vegetarian needs to be vigilant to meeting protein requirements.

Unfortunately, anyone who accumulates over 30# of excess fat is more than likely insulin resistant. Long term ingestion of highly refined carbs "burn out" the insulin receptors on muscle cells, so calories go directly to fat cells, leaving muscle cells screaming for nutrition. Exercise forces muscles to accept glucose out of the bloodstream without the need for insulin.

Most people get obese because their bodies just can't process carbs any more. They become insulin resistant %26amp; carbs go straight to fat cells. As healthy as fruit may be, it just doesn't promote fat loss. The body won't release fat stores until the blood stream is free of insulin. In someone insulin resistant, the insulin response is too sensitive %26amp; produces too much insulin.

You can lose more body fat eating protein %26amp; fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter %26amp; half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high %26amp; the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables %26amp; some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce %26amp; celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers %26amp; more variety of vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different %26amp; depends on how active you are.)

Start with meat, fats %26amp; salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts %26amp; seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.

The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate %26amp; store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing %26amp; store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.

Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) %26amp; exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at %26gt;65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

It takes minimum of 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.

High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger %26amp; unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones %26amp; allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise.

Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put cream cheese in the middle %26amp; nuke 2 min. for daily fiber needs.

As long as you have %26lt;9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control %26amp; shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Many people gain weight on high carb, do low carb to lose weight %26amp; then are shocked when they return to high carb %26amp; gain weight.Vegan Diet????????????
Part time vegan?

I don't see the point of being a part time vegan for losing weight.

Losing weight is accomplished by burning more calories than you consume and creating a calorie deficit. This is done by calorie restriction and exercise. Eat less and exercise more, the larger the calorie deficit, the greater the weight loss.

As far as eating 6 meals a day, this is not required, and it doesn't speed up your metabolism. Eating multiple meals throughout the day helps lower cholesterol and also maintains insulin levels. By maintaining insulin levels, you tend to over eat less. As long as you control your appetite, eating just 2 or 3 meals a day will suffice.

Protein should be eaten every day. This will help reduce the amount of muscle lost during dieting. More carbs should be eaten for your runs. Carbs will give you the energy for endurance activities, not proteins. Eating complex carbs (whole grains and vegetables) the night before exercise is known as carb loading.Vegan Diet????????????
go to a pharmacy and talk to someone about it. you can take certain vitamins %26amp; still be vegan and still have a superior amount of energy. but like grilled chicken and such is okay to eat, i wouldnt turn vegan just to lose weight. why not drink just water and eat healthier and smaller portions?Vegan Diet????????????
You'll be temporary VEGETARIAN. Not a vegan. There's a big difference there.

And vegans do have receive plenty of protein without meat- I know for a fact. If you wanna lose weight then just exercise and cut out junk food.
