Is it normal to see weightloss with a Vegan diet?

I became vegan 15 days ago, and have been eating well, Beans, Tofu, Veggies, Fruits, Carbs and ricemilk fortified with vitamin B-12, watching my calories and everything but i've lost almost 5lbs in this short time, is this normal?Is it normal to see weightloss with a Vegan diet?
It's completely normal, even though there is some vegan food that is unhealthy (french fries, tofu nuggets, etc), its still waaay healthier than meat and animal by products, it's why most vegans you see are really skinny. Don't worry, as long as you've got a balanced diet and you're taking vitamins, the weight loss is nothing to worry about =)

Depends on what you're eating. There are vegan junk foods. If you're actually watching calories, you can lose weight no matter what diet you're on. It looks like you're really paying attention. If you needed to lose five pounds, congratulations. I

Vegetables are much lower in calories than meat, dairy, eggs. It takes planning and discipline to get that many calories every day on a strictly vegetarian diet. If you're not getting enough it will show up sooner or later when you get sick.

Usually when someone goes on a specific or rigid diet, especially after having unhealthy one, there is noticeable weight loss (unless of course the purpose of the new diet is weight gain)

However the real question is "Is it healthy weight loss or just losing weight because of inadequate nutrition?

There are other indications besides weight loss or gain that that point to a healthy diet. For example muscle has a higher density than fat so people who are more muscular may weigh more but look slimmer than those who don't.

yes thats completely normal.. mostly vegan food is very healthy until unless you are deep frying everything you eat!!! :)

so dont worry thats a good thing.. and if you dont wanna lose weight just eat more!
If you're watching your calories- that's most likely it.

VEgans can be large. Oreos are vegan.....so is chocolate......mmmMMMmmm
